Mantam-isms

Borrowing the suffix – ‘isms’ from R’s Mom and jotting down a few random conversations before I forget them….

On the way back home from daycare in auto:

Mannu: Mamma, aaj Tammu ne school mein vomit kiya.
Me: Tammu, tune vomit kiya aaj?
Tammu: Mmmm (Sucking thumb)
Mannu: Tammu ne floor pe hi kar diya
Me (full of love for Tammu): Thik hai Mannu. Vomit karne ke time usko kaise pata chalega?
Mannu: Oh! Matlab vomit karne ke time basin dikhayi nahi deta hai kya?

I scolded Tammu for something wrong she did, rather harshly. I continued to look daggers at her expecting some reaction from her. But she kept staring at me blankly. Unable to decipher the meaning of her looks, I asked “Kya hua? Aise kyu dekh rahi hai mujhe?”
She replied – “Thik hai. Mamma ko maine maaf kar diya”.
Me – “Whatttt???”

After we came back from the trip, Mantam were reluctant to go back to school. Buckets of tears shed and the conversation goes:
Mantam: “Phir se dilli jaana hai, school nahi” and all that.
Me: “Arre school to jaana hai Mantam ko. Nahi to big, strong, intelligent, smart kaise hoge?”
Mantam: “Nahi, Tata jaana hai.”
I somehow convinced them that going to school was necessary for them.
Mantam: “To phir Mamma Baba bhi school aao hamaare saath”.
Me: “Arre nahi. Baba Mamma school kaise ja sakte hain? Baba Mamma ko office jaana hai na?”
Mantam: “Nahi. Baba Mamma Office mat jao”
Me: “Dekho hum log abhi Tata jaake aaye na? Mamma Baba ke paas jo paisa tha sab finish ho gaya hai. Phir se office jayenge to hi paisa milega. Aur hum phir se tata ja sakte hain”
Tammu: “Mamma ko office mein kaun paisa deta hai?”
Me: “Ek uncle hai. Office nahi jaane se uncle Mamma ko daatenge. And Mamma cry karega”
Mannu: “Ok Mamma. Tomorrow office se aake sab paisa amake de dena”

Fast forward to next day:
While returning home from day care, they spot a sweet corn cart and ask me to buy for them. I buy 2 small cups for them and hop into an auto.
Tammu: Mamma, uncle ne Mamma ko daata aaj?
Me: Nahi beta. Mamma office jaake bohoth saara kaam kiya. So Uncle ne nahi daata.
Tammu: Aur Baba ko uncle daata?
Me: Nahi beta. Baba ka office mein Baba hi uncle hai. (What was I thinking? Duh!)
Tammu: To Mamma zyada zyada milk piyo. Aur jaldi se big hoke uncle ho jao. (Serves me right, I thought)
Mannu: Mamma, office se sab paisa leke aaya or nahi?
Me: Haan, paisa to laaya tha. Lekin sweet corn uncle ko de diya na? Abhi sirf auto uncle ke liye bacha hua hai.
Mannu: Aiyo! Thik hai Mamma. Main kal corn nahi khaungi. Mujhe paise de dena!!!

Mannu is too obsessed with alphabets and writing these days. Wanna know why?

The other day, she got up from her potty seat after finishing her job and as usual she looks at her own potty and cheers in joy: “Aaj maine C jaisa potty kiya. Dekho Mamma” (It actually was a perfect C)

Evening when I undressed them after coming home, I see that the elastic of her pant had made an impression on her waist. She says “Ye dekho Mamma. Ye pant ne mere tummy mein ‘Sleeping line’ banaa diya hai”

I scolded Tammu for doing something for the third time even after I forbade her from doing it  (What exactly, I don’t remember) She stood with a sad face, her eyes welled up with tears.
I told her – “Tammu, you have to grow big to do that. You are still small na?”
Tammu – “Ok, main jab big ho jayega, tab amar karega. Aur tab Mamma pawn (small) ho jayega. Main Mamma ko scold karega”
Me – “Baap re, tu jab big ho jayegi, tab main tere paas nahi rahungi.”
Mannu – “Keno Mamma?” (Why Mamma)
Me – “Main kabhi kabhi aake ek do din rehke chali jaungi”
Tammu – “Jab Mamma ek din aayega, tab mein zor se pakad lebo aur chhodbo na” (Chhod – to leave in hindi, le – to take in Hindo)
And all three of us embraced to form a huddle 😀
(How I silently wished my Amma too came for just a day and I could hold her tight tight tight)

    1. Arey, nowadays they preserve one or two rupee coins and tell me that I can borrow from them if I’m so desperately in need of money. Sigh!!

Thanks for the hug RM. Much needed!

  2. Lovely post Seema on ‘isms’. Mamma ko maaf kar diya, you must be bewildered na. Vomit karne ke time pe basin nahin dikhaye detha?? How innocent and sweet, LOL. Cute kids you have and please keep this coming. Hugs to the little ones.

    1. Yeah, I was bewildered. Actually there have been a few instances when I was stressed out for different reasons but freaked out on them and then said Sorry. She had high hopes that was one of them. 😀

Will keep posting them when I collect enough for a post. Glad you enjoyed.

    1. Thanks Comfy. ‘Hope they stay the same forever’ – Amen to that.

And wait for Bugz to grow a bit more. You will have a wonderful time (without ‘The Stink’ perfume of course) listening to their chirpy conversations 😀
