Weekend in a few pics and pointers

Ma came on Saturday morning and brought lots of goodies from Kolkata. We stepped out of home just today morning after having stepped in on Friday night. (Oh, Abbas had gone to pick Ma from the railway station early Saturday morning)

1. No matter how clean and orderly the house is, Ma is sure to find at least one thing that is dirty and declare that it would have been clean had she been there.

2. Both days spent with Ma talking 25X2 and hardly listening to any other sound around.

3. Had Red Amaranthus leaves part of our menu both days which we all heart but don’t find good variety here in Bangalore.

4. Gave final touch to the balcony which I had been intending to reserve only for my plants. Shifted other hoarded stuff to the other balcony.

5. Made Masala Dosa after 5 months, last being when Ma had left, coz she loves them.

6. Finally inaugurated the Quilling Kit that was bought from Dilli Haat during our trip but it didn’t see the day light so far. Planned to make a ‘heart themed’ card to send across to Shruthi’s event but eventually ran out of ideas midway 😦

7. Watched a Bengali-classic Satyajit-Ray (oxymoron?) movie ‘Sonar Kella’ – courtesy Abbas and as usual I just couldn’t sit idly during the course of the movie. So, did some more quilling and tried some new patterns.

8. Had asked Ma to get the folder which had lots of memories of our long distance secret courtship days. Giggled like a teen while going through the storehouse of cards, letters, boarding passes (the day we eloped), a used hanky of mine that Abbas had asked to send (which now stunk), lipstick marks, mushy lines, dreams of future, agony of leaving parents, dilemma of carrying on with the relationship and what not!

Money Plant branches made to hang around the wind chime
New family member – 1
New family member – 2
3 Rose blossoms made me grin all day long
One goes on top of Mannu’s pony
The other on Tammy’s. She is acting sad and hiding her face
Heart shaped quilled patterns. Sorry for the colour combination. The quilling kit had all boring colours.
A pop up heart, when you open the card. (Please check the end of the post for inspiration link)
Next attempt at quilling
Hangs head in shame. Don’t even know what I was thinking when I made the Blue-supposedly-sun-flower
Butterfly
Tried making rabbits. But Abbas says they look like mice 😦
Tammu did this on her own when she was playing with play dough.

  1. I loved the post and the last point even more! 🙂 🙂

Why hanging head in shame? The card looks nice. I mean, really.

Your hunt for new plants makes me want more for my balcony! Will do the shopping next weekend. And the pic with the money plant and the chime is too good.

    1. Thank you so much for those words. All those un-well-meaning comments from Abbas made me hang my head in shame.

Yay! What plants do you have in your balcony now? Money plant around the chime was my idea. *proudly grinning* I have been hunting for hanging pots but to no avail. Have plans of hanging pots on both sides of the chime. Hunt is still on 🙂

  2. Wow! Please do share your weekend itenerary with me! Those quilling works are awesome and you said you did that watching TV?! :-O AND you have time for gardening/cooking/twins – Whew! Do you ever sleep?

Now come-on – we need your love story 🙂 Point 8 is perfect start for the valentine week! 😀

    1. Would you believe me if I said I slept for 2 hours on both the days in the afternoon? Ironing clothes is now outsourced to Ma who can do it in installments over the entire week which I used to do in one sitting during the weekends. It certainly saved a lot of time. Also hanging clothes, folding clothes is her department now.

Ahem ahem… my love story? How about a deal? You post yours and I post mine together?

    1. Oye Sreetama! Finally you are here eh? Sonar Kella made you come here and comment na? Missed you around. What about your blog? Continue writing na?

Sonar Kella is the second Bengali movie I watched. First being ‘Hirak Rajar Deshe’ which I liked better than Sonar Kella. Actually I couldn’t understand some bit of this as the audio was a bit unclear. My fav character in the movie undoubtedly goes to Lal Mohan Babu. He was too cute especially on the Camel 😀 The child artists also have done a great job. I couldn’t believe it was a 70’s movie. Satyajit Ray is a genius no?
