First Baking Class & Weekend Updates

So Saturday was supposed to be my first baking workshop. Till Friday evening, I had got confirmation from 2 girls (my ex colleagues), one of them, D frankly told me that she actually wanted to meet Mantam more than learning to bake. The other, R is the actual reason behind this. This girl has been pestering (read threatening) me to teach her baking and it went on getting delayed for a million reasons. RS was interested to come but couldn’t make it due to some other plans but she was sweet enough to call me and inform on Friday. Since both R and D had preferred first half of the day, I asked them to come in at 10 AM. R had told me that she wanted to learn spreading Neer Dosa, I made Neer Dosa and Batata Song for breakfast.

Both the gals came home by 10:30 by which we were all done with our breakfast. Made a couple of dosas for them. R had to attend her dance class at 2 PM. We started off with Choco Almond Brownies. All the while I was explaining do’s and don’t’s. Mannu sat on the kitchen counter and was playing with the measuring spoons, cups and smaller baking tins. She was asking each of us what we wanted and pretending to cook. Tammu was visiting once in a while and disappearing at the same speed. Abbas also left home saying he was getting bored. He went in search of birds. The guy has been going bonkers over getting pet birds home ever since I got the bird’s nest. (That calls for another post in itself)

So we melted chocolate and butter. And I was looking for spatula to stir the mixture. Spatula was nowhere to be seen. After rummaging the kitchen counter, I went to hunt Tammu. Madam was sitting next to Ma who was lying on her bed. She was busy dipping the spatula in a bowl of water and combing Ma’s hair with it. đŸ™„ I got it back from her, washed it and went ahead to mix. Mannu wouldn’t let anyone mix. She had to do it on her own. By the time she mixed it thoroughly, chocolate was hardening back as the mixture had cooled down. I had to melt again. All I wanted to do then was to spank Abbas when he came back.

After Choco Almond Brownies baked, we let it cool on a rack. Next we made Zebra Cake. By this time it was almost 1 PM. So, we decided to end the class as R had to leave. I quickly cooked a lunch of Rice, Dal, Brinjal Fry, Palak Pakoda. I fed Mantam while the gals and Ma had lunch. Tammu ate her lunch from D’s plate đŸ˜€ We packed off the baked goodies so that R and D could take them home.

Abbas came back at 5 PM and we had lunch as that hour. I was so pissed off that he came so late. And then to pataofy me, he is in a fultoo mushy mood. And started acted weird in front of Ma đŸ˜€ I was all blushing like a teenager đŸ˜€

Sunday morning, we had breakfast and set off to visit the flea market ‘Second 2 None’. I packed some fresh cut watermelon and juice to have in Bulu. The stalls there had amazing stuff. Mantam got tattoos done on their hands. I bought a few things.

From there, Abbas drove us to K.R.Market again hunting for pet shops but to no avail. We decided to head back home. On the way we spotted a Dhaba near a Gurudwara. We had a yummy lunch of Chicken Kabab, Alu Parantha, Gobi Parantha, Paneer Parantha, Tawa Pulao, Dal Makhani, Butter Chicken and Lassi! Came home and slept for a long time. All four of us snuggled in a double bed together after ages, it felt good đŸ˜€

Had a simple dinner of Dal, Rice and Alu-Egg Bharta for dinner….

That was our weekend. Pictures to follow:

Tammu getting the tattoo on
Mannu getting the tattoo

The stamp on entry

Ear rings made out of hand made paper
Plants

Purse made out of old casettes and keyboard keys. There were jewelleries also made out of them
The stall had a board reading 'Kyunki kaach bhi kabhi baatli thi'
Ash tray made out of old bottles
Quilled Paper jewellery
I got this home... Message on a bottle đŸ˜€

And a couple of danglings to adorn my collection

    1. Sure! Lemme know once you buy an oven. We’ll plan ahead next time.

Hahaha… I think the two of us share the eye for such details. (Reminds me of one of SnS’s posts where the two of went on and on about the title while SnS had no clue what was going on, rings a bell?)

    1. Yes yes… It’s just a thermocol sheet. I have stuck it using double tape (you know the ones that stick on both sides). it’s been there for almost 2 years and still in tact. đŸ™‚

        1. Ohhh đŸ˜¦ Sorry, dunno why it didn’t work out for you.

How did you spread the dosa batter? You have spill the batter all over from the top of the tawa without the ladle touching it. We cannot spread this batter like any other normal dosa…
