Shaadi ke premature effects

I dunno how and where it all began but all that Tammy speaks about these days is her Shaadi and makes huge plans around it. It’s surprising where she got this from as neither Abbas nor I speak about their marriage. Sample this:

Tammy: Mumma, when I grow up na? Erm Ummm Err…

Ma: Yes, when you grow up what?

Tammy: Mumma… when I grow up, will you allow me to choose the boy I can marry?

Ma: Ofcourse yes!

Tammy: (So elated with my consent, hugs me tight, grins ear to ear) Thank you…..

After a couple of hours, I overhear her saying to Mannu – “Mannu, Mannu, you know what? I already asked Mumma if I can choose the boy I would marry. And you know what she said? (excited) She said YESSS!!!” 🙄

(I can take a guess where this would have come from, some time back we had a conversation on why my parents didn’t speak to me. And I told them that I chose to marry their Baba while my parents wanted to choose a guy for me. Never did I imagine in my wildest dreams that this would lead them to think about their future :P)

——————————-

Just today, Mannu suddenly had an outburst of love for Tammu. So she begins cuddling her, kissing her and says “You are the best sister, cutie sister. I love you so much. We will always be together”

Tammu retorts: “Yes Mannu. But after our Shaadi, we can’t stay together na?”

I dunno how to remove this Shaadi ka keeda (bug) from her mind.

————————–

When we were in Kolkata, my niece Ummi told me that Tammu was describing the qualities of her future spouse. My jaws dropped! I dunno how that conversation had started but this was the gist.

Tammu: He should be of the same size as me. He must have hair like Jumbo (My BIL). His skin must be peach in colour, not brown or white just peach 🙄 I will have two babies, one boy and one girl. They will not be twins. Girl will be born first and then the boy.

Ummi: Who will take care of your babies?

Tammu: I will have one aunty to take care of them because I will go to office na?

——————————–

Today,

Tammu: Mumma, when I will have babies you will look after them na?

Me: Whattt? Why will I? You take care of your babies.

Tammu: Ok, but I can’t saaf (clean) their potty.

Mannu: You use a tissue paper to clean the potty na?

Tammu: Ok then Mannu, you stay with me to clean my babies’ potty.

Mannu: Why will I clean potty? I can’t.

Tammu: But you will also have babies no? If you can clean your babies’ potty with tissue paper, then why can’t you clean my babies’ potty?

Someone pinch me please… Are they really 5 and a half? Or am I hallucinating??!!!!

  1. ha ha haaa.. they will soon outgrow this.. no worries!!
that also reminds of Adi’s incident when Adi told me that she is not sure if her kids will call me “ammachi” (Tamil name for maternal grandma) as she might even end up marrying a Hindi man..
