To avoid hibernation

Before I delay my first post after the marathon any further and face withdrawal symptoms like last year, here’s is listing some recent updates from our household:

-> Manatam’s Annual day is coming up tomorrow. They are not able to contain their excitement for even a passing moment and are going gung-ho about it all the time. We got a note from the class teacher to pay for the dress, which we promptly did (Though we had never bought any dress for them so far for that amount!!!) Just when I digested shelling out so much money for both their dressed, we received another note with a list of accessories to deck them up. I almost fainted looking at the list. I wondered if they were going to get my daughters married on the said day without my knowledge?? I swear I’m not over-reacting. Read it for yourself –

-> I had bought a packet of Urad Dal powder before our vacation to Kolkata, although now I don’t remember why exactly I did so. I had to use it up soon, I looked up recipes of Murukku or Chakli. It also meant inaugurating that muruku press that I had bought 5 years ago. On Sunday, the dough was made and I began to make them, Chaklis! They turned out pretty decent, crunchy, crispy, held proper shape. But I hadn’t checked the recipe for how many murukus that proportion would yield. So, the dough never seemed to get over, I made batches after batches, and it took almost 3 hours to complete the job at hand. Phew… and the mountain of Chaklis had to be distributed among neighbours, colleagues and nanny! All said and done, I’m happy that I was successful at my first attempt, wooohoo!

-> My neighbour friend AJ Mom added me to this amazing Facebook group called Fit Right In. They are a bunch of fitness enthusiasts, who encourage each other to eat right, workout and simply stay fit and healthy. Every month they have a challenge and members who are willing to commit can participate. I joined Feb Challenge, have been doing it daily along with some more exercises regularly. It feels so good. I feel lighter and more active. The fellow FRI-ites are so supportive and full of positive vibes.

Will post on how the Annual Day went. Till then, have a wonderful weekend all you lovely readers 🙂

  1. I get it what you said, even for Chucky’s school program for a skirt alone I spend 30dollars. I felt so bad spending that much a cloth which you can’t reuse on other occasions. Also once we rented a costumes it costed 50 dollars more than the costumes itself might cost. I wonder why school makes these so expensive affair, kids will enjoy irrespective of all these extra setup. I wish they knew how to keep it simple.

    1. I came to know later what they meant by metal chutti with wings was maang teeka with chains extending toward both the ears.

Hahaha, isn’t it strange how people with worst makeup sense converge to deck up kids during annual day functions?
