Tammu is very sensitive towards her loved ones.
- A couple of days back I got a wound and she started crying. I had to console her for quite some time that I was alright to stop her tears.
- She says that she cried at school coz her friend A fell down and got hurt.
- Whatever she eats these days, she keeps a portion aside and says “Mamma, we will take this for Mimmi when we go to Delhi”

People, do you remember that the character Janice (Chandler’s on-and-off GF) from the sitcom Friends?
Mannu’s current way of laughing reminds me of her.
—————————–
Tammu never sings any song with its original lyrics. Even if she forgets words, she adds her own. (Abbas does that too). Today they were singing a new rhyme taught at school. Mannu sang “Mummy ne pyaar kiya, has rahi thi” and Tammu continued “Mummy ne daata…..” and she forgot, stood stand still while her hands had formed fists and reached her eyes and moving in a rubbing motion, but she forgot the word. So, she made the song up “crying kar rahi thi. Mummy ne cooking kiya, kha rahi thi” and Mannu was just staring at her awestruck.
—————————–
Tammu had constipation problem. So we had gotten into the habit of applauding whenever she accomplished her potty and singing praises about the quantity and quality of the substance evicted. Mannu would get disappointed thinking perhaps she was not able to manufacture potty that pleased her parents. We now have to appreciate her potty as well. Even if we forget, she’ll ask “Mera potty sundar hai? beautiful hai?”
——————————-
Yesterday I was reading them the story of an emperor who had fetish for clothes and a few travelers fool him by claiming that they will stitch an exotic dress with a material which fools cannot see. After the story ended, Tammu said “So Mamma, what is the moral of the story?” and Mannu replies “Kapde pehenna chahiye nahi to sab log shame shame bolenge”
——————————–
Mannu was helping me in the kitchen as usual and Tammu also felt like following suit. I gave her a cloth and sprayed Colin all over the refrigerator door. She swabbed it for a while and then disappeared from sight. After a while she comes in and sports a surprised look, opens her mouth wide and exclaims “Arrrey, ye fridge itna clean kaise ho gaya? Kaun clean kiya? Bolo bolo”
——————————–
I told Mantam that I will apply nail polish on their toe nails on Sunday morning. Mannu calls it “Name-Po-Liss” and Tammu calls it “Nay-Bolish”. They thought I was pronouncing it wrong and asked me to repeat after them.
Mannu – “Mamma, say after me, Name… Po… Lisss”
Tammu – “Mamma, repear after me, Nayyy… Bolish. Good girl”
—————————
Weekday morning. Abbas has gone to take bath. I am packing Dabbas in the kitchen. Tammu says “Aaaa peyeche” (She wants to do potty) and sits on the potty seat. Mannu rushed to the bathroom door and knocked to inform her Baba that Tammu wants to do potty. Then she comes and tells Tammu – “Taaa, maine Baba ko bol diya”. Tammu says – “It’s okay Mannu. Main potty seat mein kar rahi hoon na? Baba ko bol do”
—————————-
Abbas was humming “Kolaveri Kolaveri Boom” and Mannu corrects him “Boom nahi Di bolo” (We have never played this song infront of them.) When I asked her where she learnt it from, she said from her friend A.
—————————-
A girl baby has joined their daycare, her name is Trikoota. Whenever I ask Tammu what the new baby’s name is , she says “Two-koota nahi, Three-koota”
—————————-
Mannu acts as if she is the caretaker of their daycare. Their caretaker was telling me that if any of the kids cry for their parents, Mannu goes to them and assures that his/her mom/dad will come soon and also says “Main hoon na? Don’t cry”. Yesterday she told me “Mamma, A to apna tiffin hi nahi khati hai. Maine usko baar baar bola, khao khao. Phir bhi wo nahi khaya. Kitna baar main bolu, bolo?” – This with one hand on her hip and other palm banging her forehead”
Too cute. They are around 3 years right??Loved the Kolaveri one Di bolo.. And mannu said Kapde pehn na chahiye. She is so playful and such a protective girl. Hand on the hips and forehead and all that…LOL
